U14 Black 1st Year 2 Railway 2

Goal Scorers: Helen Beirne, Lauren Tracey
On Sunday 1st December Pembroke U14 Black team played a league match against Railway in Pembroke. It was a very close match and we won two short corners which we executed well but unfortunately didn’t score from. The score in the end was 2-2 which we were happy with. Our goals were scored by Helen and Lauren, and they were very good goals. It was a really exciting game and they all played really strongly. We had some very close misses on goal, but the girls were happy with the result. The player of the match in my opinion was Hazel who was very strong and determined and had some very good runs.

U14 Green 2nd Year 1 Suttonians 4

The U14 C team had a league match on Sunday 1st December at 11:30. We only had ten players so we played without a goalie. I switched around their positions a good bit because everybody wanted to play forward. They scored a few goals in the first half because we didn’t have a goalie but Pembroke fought back in the second half and managed to score a goal. The girls worked really hard in the second half to track back and try to defend our circle well which we did better than in the first half. The final score was 4-1 which they were disappointed with but they all had a strong match and it was unfortunate that we didn’t have enough players.

U14 Red 2nd Year 1 Corinthians 2

Goal Scorer: Caoimhe Corcoran
In the end Corinthians managed to just edge a very tight match between two well-matched sides. Pembroke performed well in the first half and got a goal through some good build-up play and a confident finish by Caoimhe. However the second half did not go as smoothly for the away team and Corinthians were able to impose themselves and nab two goals. Despite their best efforts and some very promising attacks Pembroke were unable to respond and went home disappointed. Hopefully the next round of matches will bring a bit more luck.

U16 Yellow 0 Railway 0

A very intense game that swung back and forth for either team. The forward runs of Emily Kelly and Ali Cassidy made for some really entertaining attacking play from the Pembroke side. But the purple of Pembroke had Rebekah Waters to thank for keeping their clean sheet. Any time the Railway forwards broke on the counter attack the found the flat stick of Rebekah who quickly set up another attack. Pembroke were unlucky not to win the game. but a Nil all result was fair.

U14 Blue 0 – 0 Corinthians

The U14 Blue team had a cracker of a 0-0 game with Corinthians. we spent most of the game camped in there half. With great work in midfield by Niamh Courtney the Corinthians players never had a second to rest. A few great efforts by Amy Larkin could of sealed it but for some great defensive work by the Corinthians side. Great work by the whole team and look forward to the next game to grab a big 3 points.

U16 Blue 0 – 1 Drogheda

We all travelled out to Drogheda for the match today against Boyne HC. Unfortunately Boyne scored early in the first half from a short corner, however throughout the rest of the game Pembroke fought hard and came close to scoring many times. With great running up front from Orla Barry, Reiltín Murphy and Alison Smith, the Boyne goalie was certainly kept on her toes, unfortunately Pembroke just couldn’t get the ball in the back of the net. The final ten minutes were extremely tight with Pembroke attacking Boyne’s circle. Considering there were no subs, it was a tiring game however the girls all put in 100% effort.
