U16 Blue 1 Genesis 1

Scorer: Emma Stephens

Pembroke played a strong team from Genesis today. Pembroke started off a bit slow but as the game went on they took off and it became a very intense exciting game. The second half was speedy with both teams creating many chances. Our defence played extremely well, stopping numerous shots from Genesis.

Genesis scored the first goal but Pembroke fought back straight away and equalised towards the end making the final score a well deserved 1-1.

The PW Black team played well in a match against Dalkey. The match started off with Sara Byrne agreeing without fuss to play with Dalkey as the team numbers were un-even. It was very nice of her.
It was a very good match and Dalkey played very well and so did the Black team. Even though Dalkey didn’t have a goalie they defended their goal so well and it was tough for the Blacks to score against them because of the good defenders.

The passing was very good and the Blacks positioned themselves very well but sometimes found themselves being marked and blocked by the opposition. Around ten minutes in the game, the first goal was scored by the Blacks but was retaliated with a good goal from Dalkey moments later. The Blacks really got into the match in the second half with all the girls playing whatever position they
were told without any disagreement.

All of the goals that were scored were scored very well and all the techniques that had been learnt in training were applied so that the team could play to their best standard. Well done to all of the Blacks. The game was very well played and they really deserved to win because they all worked really hard and the teamwork and communication was superb.

Thanks to Bob Corr for Umpiring and Donal Maher for taking charge of the “Bench”.
