Girls League Update – 10th October 2015

Under 14 Black Match Report:

Was a tough start to the season with a loss against Stillorgan.  Generally, they outplayed us and made effective use of a good press to score some nice goals.  We failed to convert circle entries to either goals or short corners and paid the price at the end of the day.

Much work must be done with the defensive approach the team will take in future and we will continue to work on our counter-attacking ability.  Hopefully we’ll gel together as a team in coming weeks and gets some wins on the board

Under 16 Blue Match Report:

First match of the 2015/16 season proved tough against a good Avoca team. From the very start it was a very open free flowing game. Pembroke making good advancements on the left hand side of the pitch. After drawing level from a great team work move.

Our forwards looking promising to score off every opportunity with Anna O’Connor leading the line up front with great interlocking play, unfortunately all of our chances didn’t result into more goals and with a smart counter attacking from Avoca they jumped into a lead which they held to the end of the game.

Under 16 Purple Match Report:

On Sunday 11th October, the U16 Purples played Avoca in the fist league match of the season. In the first half Avoca managed to score a goal after breaking down our defence. They soon won a short corner and scored another goal. In the second half we came back fighting and won 3 short corners but unluckily didn’t manage to score from them. Avoca then won another short corner and scored. We put in a great effort but the final score was 3-0 to Avoca.
