The Ladies 1sts joined the 3rds, 5ths, 6ths and 8ths in the semi finals of the Leinster Cup after coming through a tough game against Old Alex 2nds at Milltown yesterday. The 2nd division side have been having an excellent season, top of Division 2 at the turn, and into the semi’s of the Irish Junior Cup and they managed to carry their form into the fixture, pushing the girls all the way to the end of Extra time.
As you would have expected Pembroke enjoyed most of the possesion but failed to convert any of their corners in normal time – despite the screams of encouragement from a sizeable travelling suppport on a very cold sideline.

Helen Walsh may just have found a rival in Shona Doyle when it comes to vocal range. Luckily for Helen, Shona is back in training and hopeful of a return to the pitch soon from injury.
Back to the action and it was indeed a set piece which had the Pembroke crowd finally with something to cheer – it was slipped to Sarah Clarke who drilled home from the top of the ‘D’ in extra time. Queue an immediate fight back from Alex, who drove directly and won a corner in..
