A great sporting news story to keep you cheered in this cold weather. Meet our very own World Champion!

Pembroke’s multi-talented Orla Hendron took Gold at the Masters World Track Cycling Championships in Anadia, Poland last month. When not being bugged to line out for the Ladies Vets team Orla races for Orwell Wheelers, and as everyone knows is one of the most competitive and dedicated athletes around.

Competing in her first World’s championships she beat off opposition from Great Britain’s Elizabeth Clayton and Jayne Paine by beating them in the final sprint to take Gold for Ireland. A fantastic achievement for Orla who has said her aim is to keep competing and winning medals for Ireland. Congratulations from all your friends in Pembroke Wanderers Orla.
