Well done today boys and overall a strong performance from all throughout. Individually well played across the 4 games and collectively some great team play on display.

We were fast out of the blocks against Monkstown and they found themselves two behind very quickly and could not get it back as Alec in goals was so hard to beat today and we ended up scoring more on the break for a good win. Our strength in all of these matches is when we move it quickly out of defence and midfield to our forwards.

Up next was Wicklow and perhaps our complacency made this game more close than it should have been. It was difficult to find space but we didn’t really work hard enough defensively I am sure we will agree and they got it back to 3-2 at one stage before we scored a fourth to secure a good win.
Then we played the hosts Three Rock Rovers and this was a game where we showed great discipline against some tough refereeing decisions and again Alec kept us ahead when we needed him. Some nice goals in this game from us as well and a good 3-2 win.
Final game against YMCA saw us start poorly and we paid the price. Remember boys we need to start on front foot and full concentration from start. JThis was a great battle to the death and end to end hockey. I think we created most of the play after that first goal we conceded and their keeper made some great saves but we need to learn also that we sometimes have to beat the keeper by passing round him and for that we need one of our forwards to take up position at the back post so the shooter can pass to him there and eliminate the goalkeeper. We also were caught on the break a few times as we pushed for the equaliser but again Alec and some good defending kept us in it. Unfortunately we came up short but gave it everything so well done on a massive effort. It was a great afternoon of hockey and we can’t be too disappointed with 3 wins out of 4.

Again all of you played very well throughout and you hopefully will remember some of the points made to you as a team and individually to take into the next games.
