PWHC Boys Match Reports 29th November 2015

Under 10 Boys – Weston Tournament

Pembroke 2-0 Avoca

Good defence and counter attacking helped them score two good team goals.

Pembroke 1-2 YMCA

Lapse in concentration 5 minutes from the final whistle led them to lose their lead.

Pembroke 3-1 Monkstown

Great midfield linking play and good defence helped them beat a good Monkstown side.

Under 12 Boys – Monkstown Tournament

Another good day out for Pembroke U12 who keep on rolling on! W1 D1 L1

You are doing the right thing 80% of the time boys and the remaining 10% you are aware of your errors and the last 10% is what Simon and I have to work on with you all.

We had a quick chat to comment on what was good yesterday and you made some great points:

Good: Counter-Attack from the back Henry, Tomas, Louis were quick to turn Defence into

Attack.

Defensive Work: This was a real big improvement and over the 3 games I think our keeper was least busy in every match.

Build Up Play: Overall we dominated large portions of games where we were able to move the ball into circle for shots but when it came back we sustained pressure to create more chances. I have to single out Henry here who was a central part of this process.

Need to improve: You hear me talk a lot about how precious the ball is guys but if there is anything you learn from me make it that…..the ball is so hard to win that to give it back cheaply is not doing you or your team service so (a) protect the ball and (b) be strong in possession when you have it.

Finally, well done to all of you and you played really well across all 3 games. Oscar, great performances and also Louis for first time out. Alex O M for wanting to play upfront and maybe we will let him go again with a keeper this time :-).
However, player of the week goes to Leon who was excellent in all positions and what Simon and I liked most was knowing when to pass and when to go on and score….well done all and see you at training.
