PWHC U10 Boys play in Rathgar Blitz

On a cold but sunny Sunday afternoon, 8 Pembroke boys lined up in Rathgar HC to play a friendly but competitive tournament against 4 strong sides. Pembroke were down to play Monkstown, Enniscorthy, YMCA and Corinthians

The first match was against Monkstown. It was a tight match as attacks from the right and left were coming all from David Lucey and Darren Swan DuCote.

Monkstown made a good few attacks but were saved from James Kilroy and Jack Watchorn at the back. The game ended 0-0 after a tight few last minutes

Match number 2 and 3 against Enniscorthy and YMCA were somewhat different but positive for the boys. It was tight yet again against the two teams playing. Andrew Morgan showed off tremendous skills and calmness as he and Matthew Peters dominated the field while Christian Gambles simple strong passes encouraged the team. Unfortunately, Enniscorthy and YM both scored in the closing seconds of the game leaving the boys tired but eager for the next match

The final match was cheered on the parents and siblings as PWHC took on Corinthians. James Kilroys outstanding hits found Luca Hayes stick as he made mazy run up the field. Corinthians were determined to not lose however and made a few comebacks of themselves. It was Luca Hayes and Matthew Peters who created an opportunity as the shot just went wide of the goal. Christian Gamble came off the sideline to make a huge difference to the team as himself, David Lucey and Andrew Morgan created an unstoppable 3 v 2 situation however the ball was too fast for them and decided to go out!

Regardless of the matches, the boys were happy with their performances and are looking forward to their own club hosting the next tournament in the coming months
