Junior Head Coach Announcement

After a recent competitive process, Pembroke Wanderers Juniors is happy to announce Rory Treacy as our new Juniors Head Coach. 

A native of Waterford, Rory cut his coaching teeth with Waterford Hockey Club and Munster, before moving to Dublin. He currently coaches at Loreto College St.Stephen’s Green, Rathgar Ladies 1s  and a number of teams here at Pembroke Wanderers at both Junior and Senior level. Rory was also part of the coaching that won European Gold with the Ireland Over 35s this June. 

In his time with Pembroke Wanderers, he quickly earned the respect and admiration of so many of our Juniors community. Players, parents and coaches who have worked with Rory know of his incredible ability to nurture and encourage children of all ages to be the best team players they can be – and have fun doing it.

Speaking of the appointment, Juniors Captain, Andrea Pappin: “On behalf of all the Juniors team, I’m really delighted to see someone like Rory get this role. 

It’s no exaggeration to say that Rory eats, sleeps and drinks hockey. On young shoulders is the mind of a very experienced and dedicated coach – whose passion and knowledge of the game is so impressive. 

He’s the epitome of the Pembroke Juniors’ community – of respect, safety, fun and support – and we look forward to supporting him as he settles into this new role at the Club.”

A few words from Rory: “I am deeply honoured to take on the role as Head Coach of the Pembroke Wanderers junior section. I look forward to working with all the coaches, parents, players and volunteers that make this huge organisation work, and to help grow the strong Pembroke community within the Junior section. Looking forward to a great season for everyone.”
