Musgrave magic snatches dramatic point in final game of 2019.

Gavin Miller’s mens 4XI brought some early seasonal cheer to the club as they battled their way to a valuable 2-2 draw away to runaway div 4 leaders Mullingar. A rare goal from defender Ben Murahwi and a consummate drag flick finish from Thomas Musgrave turned a 2-0 deficit into an important league point that leaves the 4s on 11pts at the halfway stage – equalling their 2018/19 total with 9 games to go. Shorn of marksman Gary Johnston and ongoing injuries to key men Adam Goggin and Arthur Simms, allied to unavailability of squad stalwarts Dan Thornton and Peter Collins this was a defining moment in the season to date. Onwards and upwards for the 4s as they look forward to an Intermediate Cup Q/F clash with YMCA on Jan 26th.

Scott Furlong’s M2s found themselves on the wrong end of an early 5-2 scoreline in their re-scheduled home clash with Glenanne. A solitary goal from Kristian Mansfield prevented a yuletide whitewash on the day Joe Brennan finally went to the altar. Bigger things in mind for the 2s this season as they keep focus on both IJC and Railway Cups.

Pete McEvoy’s M5s slipped to defeat in their Dublin 4 derby away to Railway Union. A perennially strong Park Avenue 4XI putting 5 past Ian Baldwin without reply. The 5s now sit in a precarious position in div 5 and will be hoping for a new year turnaround in fortune. Christmas wishes with every cracker pulled over the holidays will help.

M3s had their late game home to Navan postponed at short notice, freeing up the squad to head out on the “Wanderers Mile” earlier than planned. With a heavy heart the squad says goodbye to mercurial Spanish teenager Pol Blanch who joined us temporarily with distinction from Athletic Club Terrassa in Catalonia. We wish Pol all the best with his studies and hope he chooses to return soon (we need the goals!).

Happy Christmas everyone and wishing all our players & members a very peaceful New Year.
