Recruiting Junior Section Head Coach

Pembroke Wanderers Hockey Club has just turned 100 years old and we have big plans to modernise and grow our youth section to support overall growth of the club as a leading mixed gender hockey club in the greater Dublin area.

We are now looking for an ambitious and energetic individual to act as Head Coach and Coach Coordinator to our junior section, The ideal candidate should have a background in youth sport – club or school – and be free on Friday evenings and Sundays to take responsibility for the following key areas:

– Overseeing the “on the ground” delivery of coaching services to the assigned groups & sessions.
– Implementing a pathway management system for players and coaches
– Building, managing, and deploying a data bank of age-appropriate hockey exercises to support hockey coaching through a network of club coaches.
– Monitoring, evaluating, developing, and managing Pembroke’s junior club coach network
– Coordinating and delivering player feedback when requested and/or when appropriate.
– Liaising with parents regarding player development and supporting the club’s feedback cycle with its parent community
– Managing weekly coach schedules and group assignments
– Driving the Young Hockey Leader/Gaisce school program
– Developing a goalkeeping culture within the club and driving & overseeing GK development activity.

While qualifications are certainly important, we realise they do not tell the full story, so we are interested in talking with applicants that feel they can contribute strongly in the areas above and have the time to be physically present at our club at weekend hours to be a visible presence with whom players, coaches, and parents can interact.
